COURSE DISCRIPTION

Course of Electronics and Devices

In order to maintain and develop a highly advanced society for the future of Japan, it is essential to promote the development of technical experts in electronics which have broad field of view and academic foundation, allowing the creation of new devices such as energy-related devices and electronic/photonic devices.
Considering such requirements from society, this course offers education in subjects such as Electromagnetism, Electrical and Electronic Circuits, Solid-State Physics, Electronic Devices and others, along with basic education in the field of Materials Science. This way, we aim to foster excellent experts who can contribute to world-level innovations by creating new devices.

Course of Materials Science and Engineering

It has become essential and timely to develop technologies for environment-friendly and low-power consumption energy-related devices for applications to energy-related industries, including solar cells, electrical and electronic equipment industry, consumer electronics products, transportation equipment industry, infrastructure, and so on.
Supporting the development of such technologies, this course aims to foster excellent experts in environment-friendly and energy-efficient electronic and photonic materials that can allow the creation of new devices. We provide fundamental academic education on Basic Chemistry, as well as Physical Chemistry and Materials Science.

Electronics and Materials Science Course (Master's program)

The Electronics and Materials Science Department has a Master’s program as Electronics and Materials Science Course. Electronics and Materials Science Course also consists of two fields: Electronic Physics Device and Materials Energy Chemistry.
The keywords for "Electronic Physics Device" field comprise electronic devices and photonic devices, energy conversion devices, nanodevices and so on, with the professors in this field carrying out research in one of the above topics.
The keywords for "Materials Energy Chemistry" field comprise organic materials and inorganic materials, photonic materials and energy-related material, with the professors in this field carrying out research in one of the above topics.
As a special feature of the Electronics and Materials Science Engineering Course, it has many foreign professors (4 persons in June 2014) and a large number of professors that activate as core faculty members (9 persons in June 2014) who are contributing as leading researchers to Shizuoka University as a whole.
