OVERVIEW

Electronics and Materials Science Department/Course offers practical education and research related to electronic physics engineering, materials chemistry, energy industry, transport equipment industry (such as automotive industry), as well as related to basic electronic devices and energy-related devices for the development of electrical and electronic equipment industry.


Electronics and Materials Science Department is a new department that combines electronics engineering and materials chemistry. Recent advances in electronics, materials development, including design and fabrication of molecules and nanostructures, have been closely related. In this department, we offer education that leads to the creation of an industrial basis by the fusion of different fields, according to requirements for the future development of the society.

Course of Electronics and Devices

This Course promotes the education of technical experts in electronics which will combine a broad view and solid academic foundation for creating new devices, such as energy-related devices and optoelectronic devices.

Course of Materials Science and Engineering

This Course aims at the education of experts for creating new devices using renewable energy materials, environment-friendly materials with possible properties for electronics and photonics applications.

Feature #1: Education of experts in both Materials Chemistry and Electronic Devices

Recent advances in electronics and energy-related devices, materials development, including design and fabrication of molecules and nanostructures, have been closely related to each other. Therefore, from both sides, electronic devices (electronics) and materials chemistry (materials), we aim to foster experts for a bright future of the society.
In the Department of Electronics and Materials Science, in order to meet the needs of the world, the curriculum includes subjects from both fields of materials and electronics, aiming to develop experts that can approach research and development from both sides.

Feature #2: International-level state-of-the-art research in Materials and Devices for Electronics

The research fields of professors affiliated with the Electronics and Materials Science Department cover the fields of electronics, photonics and communications, energy and environment, materials chemistry and so on.
Each faculty member is committed to carrying out state-of-the-art research in each of these fields, greatly contributing to the fact that Shizuoka University is highly regarded in the engineering field.

Feature #3: Contributions to educate future generations for the technological development of Japan

In the Department of Electronics and Materials Science, around 10 events are organized every year as science classrooms or science educational activities for children and elementary and junior high school teachers.
In graduate research and graduate Master program, professors passionate for such education will be engaged in state-of-the-art research, contributing to the formation of researchers and engineers for the next generation.
